November 03 Back from OhioMe and my family are back from are Ohio trip. The weather was not so good and we had a lot of mud. We made a lot of sawdust to stay on top of it. We also made some very nice carvings. The few people that came to wade in the mud loved them. Here are some pictures of the work. Now we have many great carvings at Figaro Farm on Rt. 619 in Green Ohio and in Pa. on Rt. 115 south of Blakeslee. I hope it dries out and people get out to look at are work. Remember custom orders are what we love to do. If you want it we can carve it for you!!! October 24 Back at Figaro FarmIt’s fall festival time at Figaro Farm in Green Ohio. It is the place to be! lots of fun for all and carving. Aya and myself are making lots of sawdust. And we have many nice carvings here. Plus we are filling custom orders. We still have thing going on at the farm in Pa. Freddy is on the go! Aya is getting leaves to cover the compost. Here we are at Figaro Farm swinging with Freddy! Freddy swinging by himself! WOW!! Visit Figaro farm !! Michael and I are carving, Freddy is play around. Thanks, Aya October 12 Split Rock CarvingThe seed have been planted . Split Rock Resort has entered the carving world. Talk and planning for future events has already started. I have a meeting today to talk about setting up a carving class package. That is a week long class with accommodations , meals , classes and other activates to fill your week. This could be starting soon. Interested parties can e-mail me . Five carvers carved and Rick Mack got the peoples choice. The weather was cold and rainy most of the day. But the rain stopped in the afternoon and some people came out. The pumpkin roll from the head wall of the ski slope was a gas. Some pumpkins made it all the way to the bottom of the slope and more. Some got blown apart way at the top. But it was fun for all. Here are the pictures of the carvers and carving and the site . The logs were nice and fresh and the same size . That was great for a first time event. September 09 Detail Detail DetailThey were stopping in to road today to look at the big bear. That’s good and bad. Good that they look. Bad that it is a 45 mile an hour zone. And everyone goes 50 and faster. Everyone that pulled in had a lot of good things to say. The biggest thing that was said was we have never seen that detail with a saw. The people love it !!!! That’s a good thing. There will be more coming soon. Rain is coming and I have some things to do that are not carving. Maybe more come Sunday. Bye now. September 08 Ten feet tall and bullet proof
After two weeks of things out of my hands, the logs got stood and the big bear is getting carved . Here are a few pictures . Bear with me . We will be done tomorrow . I think it is going to be ok . Let me know if it is up to the mark . It’s ten foot six over all height . I have to go . More big bear coming soon ! August 21 Road RunnerI have landed ! Three trips to New Hampshire and back to the to the house in PA. All in three days. Plus loading and unloading. Wow ! I am tiered ! Last Friday I drove to Hamlin Beach state park to do a show. That’s west of Rochester , New York . I carved at the beach. Here is what was done. I am staying close to home but I still have a lot of running to do today ! August 07 Mifflin County Youth FairAugust 01 Tuscola County FairSeven years running and they still love the show. I just drove from Caro Mi. to Reedsville Pa. last night and today. I got the laundry done and if all goes well I will be fishing in the morning. There are some nice rivers and streams here in Mifflin County Pa. We will be on the hunt for trophy brown and rainbow trout! Maybe tomorrow we will have a fish story! Here is what was carved in Caro this pasted week. The eagle was for a friend of mine in Ohio. The wood in Mi. was a little tuff but I meet with a wood guy who said we will have sweet wood next year. Here are the works! July 21 Finished FlyerJuly 19 Lots of sawdust in OhioThe people are all very happy with there carvings. I had to take a few days off because I hurt my shoulder. But I have been busy this last week. Here are some pictures of the carvings. The big eagle piece could be the best on site carving of the year. They are so happy and I still have to carve a deer in the bottom. July 10 I miss my Wife and SonAya and Freddy are coming home in August ! I miss them so much. What would I do with out the live messenger? At least I get to see them everyday for a bit. Freddy is growing so fast. Wow! Come on Daddy is waiting for you!! Here are some cool pictures of Aya and Freddy on the pond. This is just before they went back to Japan, March 10th. With the hot weather coming maybe a couple of cool pictures are good. June 30 Love doves and moreIt was a black walnut day. The stump was rotten in the center and the plan changed. There was a lot of working around the wood that I had. But the customer was very happy with the stump carving. She is having two parties this week, one Fri. and one Sat. So many people will see her new carving. Maybe I will get another job from this one soon. June 29 Going batty in OhioI am doing work in north east Ohio now. And the first big on site carving was a bat hotel in a grand way. Four plus meters tall and very well seasoned white oak. talk about your hard wood ! This one was very hard. Bats are on the decline but I hope this hotel gets many guest soon. There was talk of moving some bats in from else where. Here it is the bat hotel. Open for bats now! First come first pick on rooms. Bat rooms are in the top of the mouths, up around the tails and ears, and in the bottom wing. Ten rooms in all. June 22 National Road Chainsaw Carving FestivalThe people that came to Addison cast there ballots for the carving they liked the most Saturday and the most votes were for my piece. A bench that I called “Same Mind”. I also got the highest auction bid for a single piece. I carved a chainsaw wheedling lion that will have all the carvers names put on the base. Think fifty or more carvers were there. In spite of some big rains during the week a good time was had buy all and the sun came out some too. Here are some pictures of my carvings and others. June 13 Getting ready for AddisonI did a couple of carvings to bring to ( The National Road Chainsaw Carving Festival ). Bam Bam and I are leaving in the late morning to start are first big road trip of the year. Addison , Ohio , Caro MI. and back home or maybe strait to Mifflin county youth fair. Her are some pictures of carvings for Addison. June 10 The stack number twoJune 07 Race weekendWell we had a lot of lookers. And many good comments by the passers by. I hope the lingerers stop by tomorrow and do some shopping. The boxer dog is and order and I will finish it in the morning. The stack of heads totem is on display and the little owl is going to it’s new home in the morning. It was a rework of one of my practice speed cuts for samurai speed carving competition in Japan that I did two Octobers ago after after Aya and I got married. I did some more carving ,a little burning, and a bit of paint. Everybody loves it. Here are the pictures. Tomorrow could be the big day this week! I hope it doesn't rain but the rain coat is in the truck. We have had to many rainy days lately . June 02 Race weekYes this week Is race week in the Poconos. My new carving spot is just three miles from the track. Sunday it will be three lanes from I-80 to the track and after the race it will be three lanes going back to I-80. Wow it should be an interesting week. Here are some pictures of some of the carvings that are at the site on route 115 one mile south of I-80. We will be putting in some long hours from Friday to Sunday. I have to keep a eye on the carvings to keep over zealous fans from wondering off with carvings with out paying for them. It could be a good week. We have to wait and see. Little Fella got a hair cut ! Now he can see and he still likes the carvings. I hope the race fans get out and about and come and look at these and many more carvings. It’s going to be a big seine in the Poconos this weekend. Strange guestI went outside this morning To make a phone call to Aya this morning . Because the phone comes in better outside. As I went out the door I was startled by a pair of peacocks. They were right there at the bottom of the steps. I ran back in the house and grabbed the camera. They had moved off a little but I managed to get some shots. There they are , the strangest guest to come and visit so far.
at least I got some pictures. I think there peacocks. If someone knows something That I don’t please let me know ! May 29 The week of rainThe weather have been a big player this week. Not a lot of down pours but wet and rainy every day. It is suppose to get better this weekend. I hope so . We need some dry weather to get the people out and about . I put some tomatoes in are little garden Monday . The soil is getting better every year . I hope to get more fruit this year . I have been going to the carving spot every day . And some carving has got done in between the rain drops . The camper is in the shop for a big brake job . Needed drums , back plates , plus pads magnets and the rest of the story . I miss my wife and son so much . They are still in Japan . Aya and Freddy , I love you so much . You are the best things in my world . Bam Bam boy misses you too . Bam Bam is my dog .
